abt blood pressure

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

*Good news abt blood pressure & blood sugar levels for seniors.*

Doctors in U.S. has officially stipulated that std blood pressure (b.p.) of :
    150/90 for 65-yr-old
    160 or even 170/90 for 80-yr-old
*is normal*.

Over d yrs, “old std” reading of not more than 120/90 has been d norm, which has caused a huge unnecessary psychological burden on d elderly.

So what’s shud be d b.p. of all ages?
Normal systolic b.p. calculation shud be based on d formula:
         *male*   - *82 + age*
        *female* - *80 + age*

Example for a 60-yr-old male:
             82 + 60 = 142/90
Example for a 50-yr-old female:
             80 + 50 =  130/90

In conclusion d systolic b.p. of males over 60yrs can’t be lower than 140, otherwise it is easy to produce postural hypotension fainting. B.p. reading of betw 140/90 ~ 150/90 is safer, preferably higher, not lower.

D same is true for *blood sugar* level. With d increase of age, d std of :
             *6.5 for 60-yr-old*
              *7.5 for 70-yr-old*
*is normal.*

So to those in d senior grp, if ur b.p. or blood sugar level is a bit higher than d normal person, don’t worry unnecessarily.
